PhotoIndex documents the city from multiple angles, buildings, streets, parks, everyday detail. The result is a photographic base that professionals working with the changing city can use directly.
The archive is updated regularly. Every image is dated, located and tagged, so it can be searched and returned to as a site moves through its next stage.
Brisbane is changing quickly, driven largely by preparation for the 2032 Olympics. Rezoning, sales, demolitions and new approvals are moving faster across the inner suburbs than they have in years.
PhotoIndex follows that change as it happens. Photography began in June 2026, and the archive grows as more sites enter that process.
Planners and heritage consultants. Existing conditions documentation is often required, not optional, when assessing a site or preparing a submission. PhotoIndex gives a dated, located reference for how a street or building looked at a specific point, before it changed further.
Rendering and visualisation studios. A convincing render needs an accurate base. PhotoIndex photographs are taken from fixed positions with recorded GPS coordinates, giving CGI and photomontage artists a reliable plate to build a proposed building into, matched to the real scale, light and surrounding context of the street, not an approximation from a stock photo.
Editorial, institutional clients and researchers. For anyone documenting how Brisbane is changing, PhotoIndex offers dated, verifiable images of specific sites, usable for publication or citation without needing to arrange a shoot.
Real estate agents. A listing photo shows the property. It rarely shows what it's like to live on that street, the shopfronts nearby, the traffic, whether a tower is going up two doors down. PhotoIndex gives buyers that context, an honest look at the street and the area around the property, not just the four walls for sale.
Developers. Before construction starts, a site has a condition worth recording, for DA files, for marketing an off the plan project, or as evidence of what was there. PhotoIndex documents that condition on a fixed date, useful on its own or as the base for a render showing what comes next.
